Lakewood Rotary, an Island of Serenity

As we gathered down in the Grill Room at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club today for our Friday Lakewood Rotary meeting, I was struck by the island of calm that is Rotary International. Amid horrible wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, not to mention disasters in Africa and elsewhere, it would be easy to get overwhelmed by the troubles throughout the world today. But compare that to Rotary, where we all pull together for the betterment of people everywhere. Service Above Self. Is it the Truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned? These are actually pretty darn good rules to live by, so let us be proud to be Rotarians and remain steadfast.
