The April 17th meeting of the Rotary Club of Lakewood was called to order by President Tom George. Never one to use any previous meetings order of events, he called upon Rob Erb for the flag salute, and then he followed by asking Mary Marlin for a Rotary moment. Mary read a poem about staying on track.
President George let us know that this month Rotary International is focusing on the environment. He reminded us to care for the world we all share. He highlighted last Friday’s work of the new beatification committee who painted a guard rail on Gravelly Lake Drive. This two-and-a-half-hour project is the first of many.
Gary Barton caught the attention of the President to let him know after a little back-and-forth that there were no visiting Rotarians. Tom tried to regain the meeting back by thanking the set-up crew, including James Osundwa, Rob Erb and Terry Roarke. Tiffany Holmon also helped with the IT set up.
The President thanked Scott Buser for working the raffle desk, Connie Coleman-Lacadie for working the Paul Harris desk and Gary Barton for working the raffle table. For the LAST time, this is not the $2 table. Does anyone ever read the bulletin when I write it? Every time I comment on how the $2 table is actually the Paul Harris Desk. This time I will properly report that it was suggested by Mike McGowan that members donate a minimum of $2 a week toward their Paul Harris Award and the Paul Harris Table was nicknamed the $2 table.
