President Tom George called the Rotary Club of Lakewood to order on July 12th

He invited Steve Saafeld up to share a thought. Steve talked about hope while testing our ability to stand for long periods of time. He started, “Do you ever find yourself losing hope? There are moments where we can let the darkness of the world overwhelm our senses and convince us that hope is elusive, impossible and even foolhardy.  But I offer you today that in the moments, it is especially important that we be seekers of hope, builders of hope and ultimately beacons of hope to those lost in the darkness.” Steve then gave us a list of things that bring him hope. I believe that the audience was making their own list and started clapping at the end. The pledge was started and then a regular Tom George meeting started.
Tom let us know this month’s focus is on fellowship. He shared that “through Rotary we are connected to more than a million people around the world who share a common desire to serve others and create positive change.”
He thanked the set-up team Terry Roarke, James Osundwa, Rick Selden and Tiffany Holman; Becky Wiggins at the Paul Harris desk and Jan Gee as Sergent at Arms, he said $2 table which shows he has not read my previous bulletins carefully. Walt was recognized as the photographer and Gayle Selden is speaking of herself in the third person right now. Hopefully Greg Horn catches her errors as publisher.
