The meeting started with some articulatable mumbling with President Tom commenting that it was so bright that people looked like silhouettes. But then Tom gave a hearty welcome, and the meeting was officially underway. Mary Marlin read us a poem about decision making and someone led us to the Pledge of Allegiance.

Following up on the theme of fellowship in our Rotary Club, President Tom called out the various fellowship groups we have. Turns out we have two Monday Night Football groups – one with 11 members and Greg Horn at the helm and one with six featuring John Lowney as leader. John thinks that his group should get top billing since they met through the pandemic. Okay there you go, John, special mention. Both are waiting for the first Monday in September when the games start.

The Beautification group was acknowledged next, and then Six Rotarians Run the Yard. Three people got special mention. Steve Mazoff and Dave Swindale worked on both projects and Bill Wiggins “worked his tail off,” said Joe Quinn, coordinator of RRTY. Finally Rotary on Tap, chaired by Linda Disney and Connie Coleman-Lacadie was recognized for once-a-month fellowship.

Here’s your pun of the day: What do you call an alligator in a vest? An investigator.

Speaking of Rotary on Tap, Joe Quinn talked about a unique opportunity on July 9th to golf at the Highlands Golf Course and attend the catered pizza party after. Or just come to the pizza party. This one you have to pay money up front to reserve your spot. The fees are: 18 holes of golf - $39, nine holes - $24 and party - $20. You can participate to whatever extent you wish. Reserve with Joe Quinn or Linda Disney.
