The BIG GAME

All these Lakewood Rotarians and our guests showed up for one reason (well, maybe more than one reason….): to find out how Lakewood dominated Tacoma #8 in the 2nd annual trophy softball game. But you’ll just have to wait, as first it was Barlow calling his fourth meeting to order by asking Phyllis Stone for the nicely-done invocation, followed by Bill Wiggins leading us in the pledge. Thanks galore rained down on all the helpers: Linda Disney taking Paul Harris money, reigning Rotarian of the Year Chuck Hellar selling raffle tickets, Tiffany Holmon, Tom George and James Osundwa getting us set up, no doubt with one-armed Rick Selden powering through. Greg Horn is publishing this mish-mash of words while Walt Richardson is providing the visual story to last night’s ballgame and this meeting.
Visiting Rotarians: Pat Glenn from District 6060 in Louisiana, Missouri; Robert Kabui from Ireland; and lastly (and I do mean lastly, hint hint) Gil Quante, GM for the Tacoma #8 softball team. Gil wanted to be the first to note the overwhelming display of baseball prowess by your Lakewood Rotary team, but he pointed out that this year #8 improved by scoring five runs (zero last year), but were still defeated 16-5. He claimed we won by the illegal use of pectoral muscles. I wish.
